This is a very nice booklet made as a catalogue accompanying an
exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Land
Baden-Württemberg. The booklet covers the history of the
establishment of the Land, followed by a chapter on the heritage in
terms of arms and flags (with colour illustrations of hanging banners
of the postwar Länder of Württemberg-Baden,
Württemberg-Hohenzollern, and (Süd-)Baden. Then there is a
chapter on the question of the name of the Land, including proposals
(from the most serious to the amusing — Siamesia!). There are
separate chapters on the coat of arms, again with various proposals
illustrated in colour, followed by a chapter on the Landesfarben which
covers the flag (two proposals illustrated in colour). Finally, there
is a chapter on the current use of symbols in Baden-Württemberg.
At a price of only EUR 6, this is a very attractive little
publication.
Even more attractive perhaps, at least from a vexillological
proposal, is the primary archival material made available on-line,
with the possibility of inspecting material on the arms and flags
of Baden-Württemberg:
