Considering that no relevant flag book (except for the
Album corrections) was published
after Crampton’s 1990 books, I
agree Znamierowski is «the best flag book in the last ten years».
But I find the amount of mistakes far
too much for what that book ought to be — a good, reliable reference
work. Such as Smith 1975 is. When
I find now something new in Znamierowski 1999, I ask myself, «is this
a novelty, or just one more mistake?». Pity.

I should point out that while it’s a very nice book, it’s
not quite an "encyclopedia." Flags are placed in certain sections
without a clear order, which gives a nice overview but not an
